Resources to help expecting and new moms copy with maternal mental health issue vary from one state to another, but fortunately  there are several international organizations and other groups that can help you find the right providers and local support.

Postpartum Support International (PSI) - Postpartum Support International is dedicated to helping families suffering from postpartum depression, anxiety, and distress. PSI advocates work to meet the goals of the shared PSI mission: To provide support, education, advocacy, and research for people living with mental illness through various activities. Some of the opportunities for connecting to PSI are listed below:

www.postpartum.net – PSI’s website provides support, education and local resource information.

800.944.4PPD (4773) – PSI’s toll-free Help Line is available in English and Spanish. Help Line staffers will refer callers to appropriate local resources including emergency services if necessary.

PSI Newsletter – PSI members (both in the US and internationally) received this bulletin with up-to-date information on news, conferences, resources, research and events.

PSI Support Coordinators in all 50 U.S. states, as well as Canada, and Mexico, and nearly 40 additional countries provide telephone and email support, information, and access to informed local resources.

Online Support Groups in English and Spanish every week, led by trained PSI facilitators.

Standardized Training and Education for hospitals, public health systems, clinical providers, support group leaders, social support volunteers, and others.

PSI Educational DVDs for families and providers.

Free Phone “Chat with the Experts” First Mondays for Dads and every Wednesday for Moms, facilitated by PSI Professionals. Resources for women, families, students, and professionals.
